A guide to the most interesting and significant buildings on Arran. While not comprehensive, it details the attractive and noteworthy structures that can be seen from public roads, and includes information on the major changes to the island in agriculture, industry, tourism and architectural styles, and their impact on Arran's buildings and communities.

A companion to Buildings of Arran, taking the story indoors. Interiors of Arran records the fittings, fixtures and craftsmanship found in the island's homes and public buildings: door knobs and finger-plates, fireplaces, stained glass, light fittings, fitted furniture, tiles and interesting woodwork.
Many of these items are not "art" but are functional, durable and well made, often by local craftsmen. They tend to go unnoticed precisely because they have quietly fulfilled their purpose for over a hundred years. As houses are altered, renovated and modernised, beautiful fittings are lost forever, and they are as much a part of the island's heritage as its architecture. This book sets out to celebrate and record them.
